If You Really Love Me

Look at that face of mine? It’s not as bad as all that. Anyway. Stevie Wonder recorded a song by the same title, but his second line was “Won’t you tell me.” My second line is “why don’t you change for me.” Cause if you really love me then you’d want to please me. Hold on, hold on! This is only true when what I am asking you to change is good for you, Boo. It occurred to me just today that if I am meant for you then I am here to teach you something. I am here to help you be your best self. And I can and should say the hard things that no one else can or will say to you. So, if you really love me AND if you know what real love is then you will change. And in this case, you are changing for yourself and not for me. It’s just that because of your love for me I can seduce you to change. That’s only if I am THE ONE AND that’s if you really love me.

The Collective Pain Body Black

Wow, that sounds deep, doesn’t it? And it is. About 400 plus years deep. But not so deep that we can’t transform it. I know, I know. Our fear is that if we change our approach to racism, it’ll let our White family members of the hook. Well not so much if you get what I’m offering. What will happen is that it’ll get us off the hook. The irony of this is that our ancestors knew who they were and acted out of that knowing. However, late 20th Century Black Americans have long been disconnected to the HOW in us. The spirit of knowing how to create change on a deeper level. Our ancestors knew how to “make it over” which is why we are here. Now, we’ve got to reconnect with that knowing and allow the “change to come”

Being Real

If you are not begin totally honest in your close relationships then something is missing, “the real you.” And I’m talking about honest about who you are and what you want and what is important to you. Whatcha waiting for? You can’t lose if it’s real or “magic” as Stevie says. Come with it and if it’s there when you “wake up,” then guess what “it’s real, bruh.”
